Donald Trump’s Greatest Show On Earth

The end if Trump?

Donald Trump kept us spellbound with four years of smoking drama. America became a freaking massive Big Brother show, or more likely ‘The Apprentice’.

Where do we start from? Is it Trump’s hilariously annoying tweets or his penchant for curses and insults that didn’t fire up your adrenaline? Hollywood is bound to make movies out of Trump’s tenure. Already, many comedians use Trump’s crazy attitude as a butt for their jokes.

When it comes to insults, Trump is a natural with loads of nicknames for people. Joe Biden: Sleepy, Corrupt, Slow, Creepy, and so on. Hillary Clinton: Corrupt, Lying, Crooked, Heartless, and Skank. He has also referred to Kamala Harris as a monster and a phony. He even called Nigeria a ‘shithole!’

What about his maniac style of firing White House staff at the least provocation with the words, “You’re fired!” September 2019, over 60 White House staff have either been fired or forced to resign. From John Bolton, National Security Advisor (2019) to the recent dismissal of Defense Secretary Mark Esper. This did put officials inside the Pentagon on the edge with many wondering who would be next.

November 2020 saw the replacement of dismissed staff members with perceived Trump loyalists, including a controversial figure who promoted conspiracy theories and called former President Barack Obama a terrorist.

Several Trump appointees, including National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price have had the shortest service tenures in the history of their respective offices.

Trump justified the instability, saying: “We have acting people. The reason they are acting is that I’m seeing how I like them, and I’m liking a lot of them very, very much. Some people have done a bad job, and I let them go. If you call that turmoil, I don’t call that turmoil. I say that is being smart. That’s what we do.”

He certainly had portrayed himself as the big bad American wolf both inside and outside the US. He also proved that he could deal with the so-called enemies of the United States like Russia, China, or North Korea. He tried to intimidate China with a trade war but became buddies with Russia and North Korea.  Iraq, Iran, and ISIS, unfortunately, had to endure pure Trump rage and he was ready to go nuke on these Arab territories if it ever came to that situation.

The story suddenly turns melodramatic with the entrance of Trump’s beautiful Slovanian wife, Melania. Their relationship turned out to be more than a Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, likely more of the “Beauty and the Trumping Orange Elephant!”

Melania’s conspiracy theories were all over the media, fuelled by her mysteriousness. From, Melania is in a marriage of convenience, to Melania has a body double. Some even say she was in love with the youthful French president, Trudeau. What about the press counting the number of times Melania had swatted and side-stepped Donald Trump’s hand to avoid contact?

The power tussle between the First Lady and First Daughter, Ivanka also gave the world something to gloat about.

The election on its own was another octane packed soap opera fuelled by Christian evangelicals.

Left to the evangelicals, Donald Trump would have been fist-bumping with a landslide victory dance. It had happened before in 2016 with Trump’s overwhelming win over Hillary Clinton.

Trump is viewed by Christian evangelicals as the heathen king Cyrus who marches through the land liberating God’s chosen people. In the end, he was to usher in the  Messianic rule. So much faith was invested in this statement that evangelicals were ready to die for Trump. Nothing the ex-president did ever went wrong. His misdeeds in the past are exactly where they were – in the PAST. The Lord hath washeth Trump’s sin from crimson red to snow white.

Before the US election, pastors and self-proclaimed prophets spewed prophecy faster than a fireman’s water hose. That is prophecies about Donald Trump winning his second term with ease. Yet, when it boiled down to piousness, grandpa pervaded with the smell of rotten fish while evangelicals perceived Cologne.

Trump understood the Christian conservatives like no one else. He spoke their language: anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-Islam, anti-Obama. He truly appealed to Pentecostal and charismatic Christians in the US and globally. Evangelicals transformed Trump into their chosen vessel of God. He became a prophecy in the making. As November gradually arrived so did the Holy Spirit moved ‘powerful’ men of God to prophesy, like in the days of old, that Mr. Donald Trump shall mount the reins of power a second time, unfailingly. But what a way to end up dumbfounded. Like Nigerians would ask, “E shock you?!”

Let’s take a peek at some clergies who risked their neck prophesying for a Trump win.

One such man was Pastor Taribo West of Nigeria. Taribo was a former defender playing for the Nigerian national football team known as the Super Eagles. Pastor West predicted that the United States President, Donald Trump, would defeat Joe Biden. Unfortunately for the former defender, his utterance sparked off social media rage with many mocking him.

These were his words, “Before the election in Edo, I said Obaseki would win. Is that true? Did he win? Nobody said it anywhere. Nobody quoted me anywhere. I also said in the Ondo election that Akeredolu would win. Is that true? Did he win? He won.

“Now, I want you to put this out the way I want it. Donald Trump will win the election by a slight split edge over Joe Biden. So, quote me and I want it to be out before time.”

No wonder pastors don’t try predicting the English Premier League, they will surely lose. Some pastors, in Nigeria, secretly do football betting!

A Nigerian Pastor who also goofed prophesying about the US November 2020 presidential election is Pastor David Elijah of the  Glorious Mount of Possibility Church, Yaba, Lagos. Elijah is equally ridiculed on social media, just like Taribo West. Elijah, speaking to his congregation, said, “If care is not taken and prayer is not made I see a politician in America committing suicide because of Donald Trump.”

In the US, veteran televangelist, Pat Robertson said on Tuesday, October 2020, that God told him President Donald Trump will win the 2020 election, and “then End Times prophecies will unfold.”

Robertson revealed in a monologue on “The 700 Club” that he asked God over the weekend to tell him “how it’s going to happen,” and he was told that President Trump will defeat Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the November 3 election.

Another American pastor, Curt Landry, said that God would curse people who vote for Joe Biden. He added that God would never let Biden win. Trust me, these guys will fail woefully in sports betting.

To be honest, though, Trump’s election success came as religious freedom seemed to be under some perceived attack. The Obama administration tried coercing the Little Sisters of the Poor to violate their religious conscience and facilitate payment for abortifacient drugs and other contraceptives. During oral arguments in the Obergefell v. Hodges case, President Barack Obama’s solicitor general told the Supreme Court that churches and universities could lose their tax-exempt status if they opposed same-sex marriage.

While Clinton promised to repeal the Hyde Amendment barring federal funds for abortion, Trump has been a pro-life champion. He shone like the Star of David becoming the first president to address the March for Life. He reinstated and expanded the “Mexico City policy” – which prohibits U.S. foreign aid from going to groups that perform or promote abortion. He signed legislation overturning an Obama-era regulation that prohibited states from defunding abortion service providers.

Christian Trump supporters thereby proclaimed him uniquely chosen by God. The call for a second term became ear-shattering. Unfortunately, this only exposed how radicalized the Republicans had become tinged with greater spiritual desperation with connection to the Church. Somewhat similar to Adolf Hitler radicalizing Catholicism as a weapon for world domination.

If there’s anything history has taught us, mingling religion and government is a recipe for wanton disaster. The merging of politics and religion will blur the lines of what is right and wrong. Religion in politics will lead to divisiveness and hatred, especially if one particular religion is in power, then other religious adherents will become irrelevant and will lose their political voice.  Trump’s four years in power was a pure marriage of religion and politics.

Hopefully, the Biden-Harris presidency may douse this ‘radical spiritual reawakening’ in government. Trump tenure leaves one with that euphoric feeling you get in a rock and roll roller coaster ride after sniffing coke. No wonder religion is said to be the opium of the people.

Despite the improvement of the US economy and initiating most of his promises, Trump’s greatest flaw was his inability to be diplomatic. Trump handled the economy very well but became a suspect in fighting the pandemic leading to a loss of over 11 million American jobs in the last eight months and over 240,000 deaths.

You may criticize the man, Trump, but a large number of Americans still voted for him. Trump gathered over 68 million votes which are five million more than he had in 2016. He retained the support of nearly half of the public despite four years of scandal, setbacks, impeachment, and the brutal coronavirus outbreak.

The end if Trump?

The end of Trump?

Now, It’s no longer a dream because the curtain must come down for every show no matter how mind-numbing it is. The Trumps must take a bow as America transits from bright orange-red to a deep beautiful blue hue.

Pockets of rallies by Trump supporters encouraged by Trump himself have marred the transition. On November 14, Washington DC witnessed what was dubbed the Million MAGA March held in support of Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of widespread election fraud. The protest turned violent as the left-wing ANTIFA group got involved.

Trump’s lawsuits in the courts have not yielded any headway so far.

There have been other pro-Trump protests around the country since Biden was projected the winner on November 7, but these have been small with little incidents.

Probably we might miss him for the next four years, but Trump still has the chance to continue his world-class act as the United States president by next November 2024.
